Raising Money for Stem Cell Therapy to slow MS Progression

Today’s Community Cleanup was well attended and very productive. Kudos to First Blocks of Whittier Blvd for putting it together and providing support to all the volunteers. I am impressed by how many people want to help in any way. I hope this inspires more community involvement projects.

My first community meeting. Joshua Mora’s mom thanked the police officer who led the investigation into finding the perpetrator of Joshua’s hit and run. Other community activists spoke about the many issues that come from neglect by the city, county and state departments in Boyle Heights and East LA. Mr. Gallagher reported that CD14 representatives communicate regularly with the Department of Transportation advocating for safer crosswalks in Los Angeles. Currently 155 crosswalks are on board for work. Orme & Whittier’s flashing lights are a priority because of the neighborhoods activism.

Justice for Josh Mora was very productive. I met some impressively active people and learned about how much this sort of tragedy affects so many people’s lives.
I stand with the movement to call on the Department of Transportation to stop postponing the improvement projects it has. Assemblyman Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) and another assemblyman are the people responsible for not allowing improvements to proceed.
I’m going to start to get involved with local politics. I have to. Please vote. Everyone has to vote.

My first time walking across the 6th Street Bridge. It is beautiful and easy to walk. Next time I will explore the ramp that goes under it to the park below.
I’m building up my strength for the MS Walk next week at the Rose Bowl. Sunday, April 16, 10:00 am. Walk MS® unites us as a powerful community.

Almost a 3 mile walk. Panda is now where 24 Hour Tacos was. Pollos Dos Gueros and Pupusa Lady in front of Northgate Market. New apartments almost done by the Metro station on 1st and Soto. The Showers of Hope program set up at Hollenbeck Park to help homeless people.
Boyle Heights is alive and vibrant.
ACTION REQUIRED: Sidewalk needs repair. This patch is nearly unpassable for me in my condition. I filed a report using the LA City 311 App. Please do it, too.
